WINDSOR, Sonoma County — October 25, 2026. The Town of Windsor says construction of the new Esposti Park Playground is tentatively scheduled to begin during the week of October 26, 2026. According to the town’s official project update, the improvement will bring a new playground, restroom, park furnishings, paths and landscaping to the northwestern corner of Esposti Park. This is a projected construction start, not confirmation that crews have arrived or that any facility is already open.
What is planned for Esposti Park?
The improvements belong to Windsor’s 2025–2027 Capital Improvement Program approved by Town Council. The town explains that the park project is being coordinated with its Public Works Well Treatment Facility Project. Because the projects are moving on different schedules, improvements may be built in phases. A phased construction plan should not be interpreted as a commitment that every amenity will open together.
Windsor says the playground is funded by Park Development Funds, which are allocated for expansion of the local park system. The town explains that these funds cannot be spent on ongoing maintenance or operations of existing facilities. The Town Council discussed the general project in 2025, and the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed early designs and public input on January 14, 2026. The concept has been discussed since 2007.
Planning Commission calendar update
In an unrelated municipal schedule update, Windsor’s current homepage calendar labels the Tuesday, October 27 Planning Commission meeting as canceled. An older or alternate calendar listing may show the meeting without the cancellation suffix, so residents should use the newest notice and verify through town staff. Do not travel based on the usual standing meeting schedule.
Public art meeting October 28
The town separately lists a Public Art Advisory Commission meeting Wednesday, October 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 9291 Old Redwood Highway, Building 400, Windsor, CA 95492. The official event listing provides an agenda link and contact number (707) 838-5399. Public-art committee discussion is distinct from Planning Commission or Town Council action; check the individual agenda for items and participation directions.
How residents can follow construction
For current work dates and park-access changes, start with the Esposti Park project page. The municipality’s homepage links meetings and construction-project information. Residents should not infer a street closure, completion date or playground opening until the town issues a specific announcement.
